THE STATE OF IDAHO
Look at percentages of Evangelical Christians in some of the places where many of our churches will spend their resources on overseas missions:
Haiti – 17.5%
Belize – 24%
Nigeria – 26%
Kenya – 45.6%
China – 7.6%
The percentage across the state of Idaho: 5.7%
How can we as Christians and churches in good conscience ignore the very mission field that is in our own backyard?
Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Whether Idaho is Jerusalem, Judea, or Samaria to wherever you live, we are called to be witnesses to the Gospel there.
The problem is that no one is aware of the desperate need of Idaho. Overseas missions makes sense to most people. Even Utah makes sense as a mission field to many Evangelical Christians because of the LDS (Mormon) population there. But sadly Idaho is one of the most overlooked mission fields that exists. Eastern Idaho has a majority LDS population, and is one of the most spiritually dark places in the world. Sadly, very little effort is being made, even within church planting networks, to advance the Gospel in the state of Idaho. We want to change that!
